Oak Grove Opioid Overdoses
Four high schoolers in a town of 8,000 had either died or been hospitalized since the start of the 2022 school year, all from drug overdoses. I spoke with a concerned neighbor through a news tip at about 2 a.m. about what was happening. We weren’t aware of it at the time. So, I pitched what we knew, using the resources I had to make an impact. The stories we did were born out of concern, to outreach (federal and local). Because of these stories, the town began to reconciling with an epidemic.
